About Farlington Language School

From March 2025, Farlington will open its new language school for international students looking to have a short-term language immersion and cultural experience.

The experience might be a stepping stone towards seeking a permanent place in the school as a full time student, or in improving your language skills and qualifications, or just simply having the experience of studying at one of the UKs leading schools.

Farlington School enjoys a strong reputation for its academic excellence and welcoming community. Farlington students are happy, fulfilled young people, fully engaged in the life of the school community, aspirational and committed to their studies. With class sizes of no more than 20, you can have an impact on each student in every lesson, and a commitment to our thriving co-curricular programme outside the classroom is essential.

Our language courses seek to provide a broad curriculum and range of activities and trips which are specifically aimed at supporting students into studying within the UK at Year 7 - Year 13 (12-18 years). Following the course, A good number of our students seek a permanent place at Farlington to study within the main school as a full time boarder.

About the Short Courses

Our short courses are focused on preparing international students for studying in the UK and overseas. They can also be an excellent preparation in supporting an application onto our Pre A Level course (where entry requirements are higher), prior to then joining our Sixth Form a year later.

Students study a minimum of four hours of English Language study per day appropriate to their age and level. Lessons additionally cover the use of everyday English language and curriculum language lessons relevant to academic subject areas. This will also incorporate some language skills around the culture of the UK (both modern and historic). Modules include:

  • Academic English
  • Curriculum Support English
  • Drama, role play and literature - Everyday English

In addition, the course includes two elective activity sessions each day, which pupils are free to sign up for their preferred choice at the start of the week for each day. Students will choose from a variety of the following activities:
