Sixth Form Experience Day
BackToday, the Sixth Form were delighted to welcome Year 11 students, to spend a day in their shoes and get a feel for what next year might bring. Arriving dressed to impress, the students attended pre-chosen taster sessions on the full range of our A-Level subjects and explored the expectations of study at this level. This was coupled with breakfast and lunch in our Refectory, chatting to our current Sixth Form students and Tutors. Judging by how fast they went, the 'Cruffins' (cross between a muffin and croissant - who knew?) were particularly well received.
Other events of the day included information on what The Sixth Form At Farlington offers - from our tutorial-based teaching model, to the guided UCAS process, and leadership and career opportunities. One student commented that “it was really interesting to see the jump from GCSE to A-Level, with the small classes enabling in-depth
conversations and not having to fight for attention”.
Students also heard from alumna Abigail, who, having recently graduated from university, talked about her own choices and journey through post-16 education. The day was rounded off with a session on the Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) and how valuable an exercise this can be. All in all, it was a really positive day and hopefully left all of the Year 11 students who attended inspired and excited about their next steps!
