Farlington Hits the Slopes
BackOn Saturday 16th December, 29 Farlington students from Years 7 to 13 gathered for a bright and early start at Gatwick Airport to catch a flight to Milan for the start of the annual Farlington ski trip. There was plenty of excitement in the air as the school term had finished for the Christmas holidays the day before, and the students had six days of skiing in beautiful conditions to look forward to.
Upon arrival in Milan, the group transferred to the picturesque skiing resort of Folgarida, located in the Italian Dolomites, which is linked to the network of slopes above the famous Madonna di Campiglio resort. The resort was ideal for a school group as there were plenty of green and blue runs for the skiers with less experience to enjoy, which enabled them to build up their confidence on the slopes.
Skiing lessons took place for everyone during the day, and a well-earned, hearty lunch was enjoyed at a restaurant up the mountain, with some incredible Italian food on offer, giving everyone plenty of energy for the afternoon's skiing!
Once the hard work was finished at the end of each day, there were plenty of fun activities for the children to enjoy in the evenings; more delicious Italian food, swimming, a town trail, a quiz night and, of course, a pizza night! Father Christmas even took time out of his busy schedule to make a guest appearance on the slopes!
The trip was a great success and the staff were all very proud of how well the students conducted themselves while representing the school. Thank you to all who joined in, and we hope to see many of you back on the slopes next time!
