Our topic in Prep One this term is The Great Outdoors and in our Science lessons we have been spending lots of time outdoors looking at the school grounds.

We learnt that there are two types of trees – deciduous and evergreen - and then went outside to look more closely at the trees that grow around school.   We observed the large oak tree by Fishponds, looking closely at the roots, trunk, branches, bark and leaves and discussed what each part of the tree does.  Everyone estimated how old they thought the tree might be and we then measured the circumference of its trunk and calculated its age – it is approximately 164 years old!   Aliyah’s estimation of 100  years was the closest.

In our English lessons, we have enjoyed listening to and writing about the book "The Gruffalo" by Julia Donaldson.   In our Art lesson this week we all worked  together to create a beautiful class display board.
