'Last Days of Anne Boleyn' online curator talk with Lucy Worsley, Tracy Borman and Jane Spooner.

We in the Farlington History department are rather sad that we can't get out on our usual trips this term. However, we have been encouraging our students to take advantage of some of the excellent talks that some of the country's top public historians have been giving to enliven our evenings and weekends. Here, Year 11 historian Mia, reviews the 'Last Days of Anne Boleyn' by Historic Royal Palace joint chief curators, Lucy Worsley and Tracy Borman...

"Since so many of our heritage sites around the UK have temporarily been closed, due to Coronavirus restrictions, historians have been bringing history to us in the comfort of our own homes instead. On Wednesday 7th October, Lucy Worsley teamed up with Tracy Borman and Jane Spooner to livestream a crowdcast talk on the subject of Anne Boleyn’s final few days before her execution. They explained exactly what Anne would have experienced upon her entrance to the Tower of London and what her stay at the tower would have felt like from her own perspective. As well as this, they challenged a variety of rumours and conspiracies about Anne, from her own era as well as common misconceptions about her in the 21st century. Their enthusiasm for the topic was evident and incredibly inspiring, I felt that they encouraged their nearly 3,000 viewers from around the world to think more critically and look below the surface of people’s perception of who Anne Boleyn was as a Queen, a mother, and as a woman. I hope that they continue to do more crowdcasts like this one in the future since it has helped massively to fill that real life gap felt by all history enthusiasts in this current climate."
