Visit to Horsham District Foodbank
BackToday, student leaders from Years 6 and 8, together with our Head Students, visited Horsham District Foodbank. This hugely valuable resource is run by wonderful local charity Horsham Matters.
Our Form Captains, Deputy Form Captains and Student Council representatives dropped off donations from our generous school community, and were also able to find out about the very important and worthwhile work that the foodbank does.
Whilst there, we helped pack some emergency bags, and had a tour of the warehouse. We found out that the number of people in need has increased substantially: prior to the pandemic, the foodbank helped around 140 families per month; that number has since risen to over 600.
We also learnt that Horsham Distict Foodbank is part of a community of foodbanks, so that if they have too many of one item, they can swap with another foodbank.
Next year, we will be looking at how we can continue to support the foodbank. Thank you to our Farlington community for their donations, which were greatly appreciated.
