We are thrilled to announce that, following a three-day inspection at Farlington in February of this year, the ISI (Independent Schools Inspectorate) has published an overwhelmingly positive report, which is a true reflection of our wonderful school.

Since the introduction of a new ISI inspection framework in September 2023, the ISI no longer gives gradings to independent schools following an inspection. There is therefore now a greater focus on each school having met the required standards, and on the details within the report that is subsequently published.

Over the three days that the inspection team visited Farlington, they were forensic in their work, reviewing and following up on questionnaires, interviews and observations.

“I am immensely proud of how the school – staff and pupils – conducted itself throughout the inspection week,” says Headmaster James Passam. “I am ever grateful to both our teaching and non-teaching staff for the extra lengths they go to every day in support of our students. This willingness to go above and beyond is pleasingly reflected within the report.”

As well as recognising that Farlington meets all required standards, the report makes specific and positive references to our academic, co-curricular and pastoral provision. These references reflect some of the significant changes that the school has undergone recently, during a period that has seen Farlington sustain a healthy level of growth and become a fully established co-educational school, with a new leadership team, an improved curriculum, new facilities, and an impressive extra-curricular programme that offers something for every student. Inspectors observe that “curriculum leaders are innovative and diligent in their approach to promote pupil learning” and “place a great emphasis on helping pupils to become confident learners”.

“As I approach the end of my third year as Head, I couldn’t be more proud of the hard work and dedication to the school shown by children, parents and staff,” says Mr Passam. “Farlington is a very special and unique family community, and it is a privilege to be a part of it.”

This sentiment is echoed in the inspection report, which states among its findings that “everyone looks out for one another in this small, caring school”.
