The Middle School took to the stage earlier this term for their 2024 production, ‘Jesse and the Bookkeepers’. Written, produced and directed by Head of Drama and Theatre, Mrs Spires, the play follows the story of a young, shy girl named Jesse who spends a lot of her time on her own in the Lunar Library. But she finds herself in a situation where the fate of the world and the library is in her hands. With the help of Tioni Moon and the Bookkeepers, they make their way through the pages of books, solving problems and trying to defeat Tioni's younger brother, Tiernan, and his sidekick, Smudge. Will they manage to save the library in time, will the world be safe...... and who is going to double cross who? Well, now we know - it was Smudge!

Mrs Spires said about the production, “It’s been great fun to work with the students and see this story come to life, and I hope that you all enjoyed it as much as we enjoyed putting it together. I think we can all be a bit like Jesse and unsure of whether we’re good enough, likeable enough or brave enough. But like Jesse, if we take the leap of faith and engage with the challenge, we can realise that in the words of Sierra Boggess ‘You are enough. You are so enough. It is unbelievable how enough you are’.”

Year 8 student, Hattie shared her experience of being in the production; “I would 100% recommend joining the production. It is such an incredible experience where you can make new memories and friendships. Performing on stage gives you such a buzz and I always look forward to each show. Even if you don't want to be on stage you can be backstage which is a really important and exciting job.”
