For this year's annual Year 9 Activity Day, the Year 9 students were divided into two groups due to Covid-19 restrictions. Mrs Gilbert and her team took part in team-building challenges at school, whilst Ms Whittaker and her team took a trip to Southwater Country Park, where kayaking and paddle boarding were the order of the day.

At Southwater Country Park, wetsuits and safety gear were sorted and the fun began. Throughout the day, the students, in four groups, tackled the water-based activities in different ways. Some were mainly interested in splashing each other and seeing who could end up the wettest, whilst others spent more time in the water than out of it after capsizing their kayak or coming off their paddleboard on numerous occasions.

Katie was definitely the most adept kayaker, and Cayden had the loudest voice!

Great fun was had on the water and the students enjoyed their time out of school, at the end of what has been a very strange school year for them. Fun, challenges and bonding were the aim of the day, all of which were achieved.
